Calmapherol® S.C. ointment, 20g
non-steroidal ointment for irritated skin
Glycerophosphoinositol (GPI choline) salts of choline are innovative active ingredients of plant origin produced during lipid metabolism. It is worth noting that it was internationally patented, both the molecules and their usage in the production of cosmetic and dermatologic preparations.
The mechanism of action of the choline salt of glycerophosphoinositol (GPI choline) is that it inhibits the inflammatory cascade – the enzyme phospholipase A₂ liberates arachidonic acid, which means that it works in the same site of the inflammatory cascade as glucocorticosteroids, thereby reducing the inflammation.
Preparations containing glycerophosphoinositol (GPI choline) salts of choline in the initial phase of the inflammatory cascade work on a par with corticosteroids. GPI choline is also much safer since it is hand-selected and does not pose a risk of the appearance of side effects characteristic of corticosteroid preparations, for example, it does not cause a hormonal imbalance in the body. GPI choline is an antipruritic agent which is recommended for inflammatory diseases such as atopic dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis and other types of skin redness and inflammation.
