to prevent recurrent infections of the ear, nose, and throat
What Do We Know about Upper Respiratory Tract Infections ?
Upper respiratory tract infections involving ears, nose, and throat are the main reason why children visit the doctor’s office. Viruses are the most common etiologic agent causing infections, the second most common agent is bacteria. The most common bacterial infections causing, for example, acute pharyngitis and tonsillitis (accounting for up to 37% of all throat inflammations in children) are caused by the Streptococcus pyogenes bacterium. Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis are responsible for over a half of all bacterial middle ear infections.
What is Streptococcus Salivarius K15 ?
Streptococcus salivarius is a gram-positive, facultatively anaerobic bacteria belonging to the viridans group of streptococci, which is generally classified as a risk group 1 organism, which includes microbes that do not present a threat to human and animal health. It is part of the physiological flora of the mouth and throat. It is one of the most abundant bacteria and is present in the digestive tract. Streptococcus salivarius K15, which produces antibiotics that inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria such as Streptococcus pyogenes and Streptococcus pneumoniae, is responsible for ear, nose and throat infections. The supplement helps to restore the natural bacterial microflora and increase the body’s immunity. Recent research has proved the efficacy of the Streptococcus salivarius K15 strain. The microbiological study showed its antagonist activity to bacteria such as Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilius influenzae after 8 hours of incubation, as well as after 24 hours, effectively reducing the number of pathogenic bacteria. An 83% improvement was observed in the study, whose purpose was to assess the effectiveness and safety of BactiStreps in the prevention of recurrent ear, nose and throat infections.
How Does BactiStreps Work?
BactiStreps dietary supplement is intended for children over 3 years of age and adults. It helps to prevent ear, nose and throat infections following illness or angina (after the antibiotic therapy). BactiStreps contains probiotic strains of Streptococcuss alivarius K15, which produce antibiotics that are able to slow down the growth of pathogens such as Streptococcus pyogenes and Streptococcus pneumoniae, which are responsible for infections of the ear, nose and throat. This supplement helps to restore the gut microbiota and strengthen the immune system.
BactiStreps contain xylitol as an ingredient, which helps to restore the acid-base balance in the oral cavity, prevents periodontitis, eliminates gum inflammation and strengthens tooth enamel.
